She is the daughter of Harvey Welker a Native American father and Julie Welker an African-American mother. She has an indigenous father and mother who is African American. Walker attended school at Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown region, where she was able to graduate in 1994. Following her graduation at Harvard College in 1998, she enrolled at Harvard College and earned her bachelor of Arts. Welker is married to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck located in Philadelphia and the couple has two kids. The couple started having an affair.
